I’ve Got an NDIS Plan - What Now?
Getting your first NDIS plan can be a big moment. For many people it’s a mix of relief (“finally, it’s here”) and confusion (“what on earth do I do with it?”).
We don’t pretend to have all the answers - we’re just one piece of the puzzle, focused on allied health. Think of us as a small country on a much bigger map.
But we can sit with you, help make sense of the therapy side, and point you in the right direction for the rest. None of this costs anything. It’s simply our way of helping people feel less overwhelmed in those early days.
How do I even read this plan?
That’s usually the first hurdle. We can go through it with you, explain the different sections in plain English, and talk through what it means.
If you’d rather, your Support Coordinator or Local Area Coordinator (LAC) can do the same - but sometimes it helps to start with a simple conversation.
What can I actually use the funding for?
Plans are split into areas like Core, Capacity Building, and Capital. We’ll explain what those categories mean and how allied health therapies (OT, Speech, Physio, Psych) fit in.
For things outside therapy - like housing, support workers, equipment, or daily living - your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, or other community services are usually the best guides.
How do I find the right providers?
We can explain what each therapy discipline does and connect you with our team if that’s useful. But there are many providers out there, and it’s worth exploring until you find the people who fit you best.
Am I supposed to manage this all by myself?
Not always. If you have Support Coordination funded in your plan, that person helps you pull it all together. If not, Plan Managers or other organisations can support you.
We can explain the difference, but our piece is mainly therapy - not the whole plan.
What if I make a mistake?
That worry is normal. We can share some of the common pitfalls to avoid, and you can always double-check things with your Support Coordinator, Plan Manager, or even the NDIS directly.
Do you charge for this help?
No. This part is free. It’s about making the early steps feel a bit less daunting.
Can I come back with more questions later?
Absolutely. Whether it’s your first plan, a plan review, or just a moment where things feel confusing - you can come back. And if the answer lies outside therapy, we’ll happily point you towards the right people.
